Seigaiha Sashiko Medallion PDF — Blue Ocean Waves Stick & Stitch Template | 7", 6" & 5" Sizes | Water Soluble Printable | Instant Download
✦ Seigaiha (Blue Ocean Waves): Traditional Japanese Sashiko Medallion ✦
A hoop-sized medallion of rolling ocean waves, drawn true to size and ready to stitch by hand. Print it, trace the arcs onto your fabric, or print straight onto water-soluble stabilizer, and fill them row by row, as a hoop centerpiece, a pillow panel, or a framed piece.
Seigaiha (青海波, "blue ocean waves") layers overlapping fan-shaped scales into rows of endless, rolling waves, one of Japan's oldest patterns, named for a costume in the ancient court dance of the same name. The unbroken waves carry a wish for good fortune, peace, and quiet resilience. Worked as calm rows of running stitch, it stitches up as a soothing, rhythmic project.
WHAT YOU GET (instant download, ONE PDF):
• A 7" medallion, for a 7-8" hoop, a pillow, a tote/bag panel, or a table-runner centerpiece
• A 6" medallion, for a 6-7" hoop or a framed accent
• A 5" medallion, a smaller hoop or accent (pocket, patch, gift topper)
• A dashed cut-box + 1-inch scale square on every page so it's easy to position and print true-scale
• Prints true-scale on BOTH US Letter and A4, one file, just print at 100%
HOW IT WORKS: 1) Print at 100% (check the 1-inch square) → 2) Trace onto fabric on a lightbox, or print directly onto water-soluble stabilizer → 3) Stitch along the arcs with even running stitches, following the scallops → 4) finish and rinse away the stabilizer.
Please note: this is a print-&-stitch TEMPLATE (the motif in three sizes), it does not include step-by-step lessons. Work the scales arc by arc, following the scallops, so the overlaps line up; try two thread tones (a bright white with a soft blue) for the layered look shown.
