Full description

For hotel general managers, HR managers and department heads who need one clear language for what good looks like at every level. The pack defines 12 competencies (guest focus, communication, teamwork, problem solving, commercial awareness, quality and safety, planning, leadership, coaching, change, digital tools and cost awareness) at 5 levels, from team member to department head, with 3 observable behaviour indicators in every cell. The workbook maps 24 sample roles to the level each competency needs, compares a self-assessment with that level, ranks the gaps with RANK and carries the top gaps into a development plan with dates and status. The Word guide prints the dictionary as 12 cards and adds a career ladder, self-assessment steps and a plan form.

How it works

  1. Review the Dictionary and edit indicators so they match your standards.
  2. Set the required level (1 to 5) for each role and competency on Role Mapping.
  3. Pick a role on Self-Assessment and score each competency. Read the gap, status and priority rank.
  4. Agree actions for the top gaps in the development plan and set dates.
  5. Print the cards and the plan form from the Word guide for appraisal meetings.

FAQ

Can I change the competencies or level names?

Yes. Edit the lists on Settings and the wording on Dictionary. The role map and self-assessment pick up the new names.

Do I have to use all 12 competencies?

No. Keep the ones that matter for your hotel and ignore the rest. Role levels you do not need can stay at 1.

How is the priority decided?

The gap is the required level minus the self score. RANK orders the gaps from largest to smallest, and a tie goes to the higher required level.

Can I add my own roles?

Yes. Type new roles in the spare rows on Role Mapping. They appear in the role drop-down on Self-Assessment.

Does it need macros or add-ins?

No. Every result is a standard worksheet formula.
