Belly Breathing: A Simple Tool for Stress & Overwhelm
Belly Breathing: A Simple Tool for Stress & Overwhelm
When stress, anger or strong emotions take over, the breath can become shallow, fast and disconnected from the body.
This simple belly breathing practice is designed to help you slow things down, reconnect with your body and create a little more space between you and whatever you’re experiencing.
🌿 What you’ll practise
In this session, you’ll be guided through a simple belly breathing technique that encourages slower, deeper breathing and a gentle shift towards relaxation.
You’ll learn how to:
- Connect with the movement of your abdomen
- Breathe deeply into the belly
- Slow and lengthen your exhale
- Become more aware of sensations within the body
- Use your breath as a tool when feeling stressed, angry or overwhelmed
- Finish with an audible sigh to release tension
🫁 Follow Along
You’ll receive a PDF alongside this practice so you can follow the instructions step-by-step as you breathe.
Find somewhere comfortable, give yourself a few uninterrupted minutes and allow your eyes to close when you’re ready.
There is nothing to force and nothing to get perfect.
Simply breathe, notice and allow your body to begin coming back towards a place of calm.
Take a breath. Come back to the body. Come back home. 🌿
