Seagull Watches Selfie-Taker

On a late Autumn evening on Budleigh beach, I spotted this bemused seagull watching a man in the sea taking a selfie. It was such a glorious evening, with golden light pouring out from behind the cliffs as the sun set over them. The light dapples upon the calm sea, reflects off a gently breaking wave, and causes some lens flares in the lower part of the image over the stones.

On the larger images, you’ll also notice the glint of the occasional fly above the people further along the beach and in line with the cliffs. Despite the simple shapes cast by the land and sea, there’s plenty of intrigue in this image, particularly in the variety of silhouettes to view as your eye is drawn around the shoreline.
