Being in a relationship can be complicated.

Do you know which level you are aspiring to? Are you doing the right level of work to arrive at that destination? If you are putting in the work of a companionship relationship and expecting to have the benefits of a partnership, you are going to find yourself disappointed.

Many Couples struggle with presence, overfunctioning, being too busy and they have to decide whether they want to pursue the model of partnership or companionship. I have payhip articles for each of those to help couples do the work necessary to be effective and healthy.

Let's normalize having the hard conversations and leaning into the awkwardness. "I want us to be partners and I think we can get there," is hard to say to the romantic partner who might believe they are already at that level.

Read more and take the time to decide if you want to do the work that earns partnership level rewards. If you don't want to do the work necessary, then, on some level, you don't want partnership. That is okay, just be honest with yourself and your partner.

It takes work and often people underestimate that amount of work.
