Looking for an idea for a special gift for your music loving piano playing friend? Or a way to show your kids piano teacher your appreciation? How about a handmade mug rug with the classic black and white piano keys? This one is a quick and fun make even for FPP beginners!
The pattern comes in size 6“ x 6" (unfinished at 6.5“ x 6.5") for the mug-only square version and 6“ x 8.5“ (unfinished at 6.5“ x 9“) with a piano key sidebar, each one with a right handed and a left handed version, and with a coloring sheet. The individual sections are clearly labeled and have a ¼“ seam allowance. There are no curves or y-seams. The pattern comes as PDF files in A4 & US Letter paper format.
This pattern is a beginner friendly foundation paper piecing (FPP) pattern that assumes only little basic knowledge of paper piecing. It does not include detailed FPP instructions, but it has instructions for turning it into a mug rug. You can find lots of free tutorials for the various FPP methods online. This pattern can be made with just a few cotton scraps from your stash
