Beach Peas Cowl/Tam Set

Set of 2 PDF knit patterns for the price of one!

Beach Peas Cowl pattern is designed as a part of a set with a matching hat, Beach Peas Tam. A carefully selected stitch patterns used in this design makes it perfect for a reversible accessory like this cowl.

The main part of the cowl is worked flat, then the ends of a knitted piece are grafted together for a seamless look. Finally, the trims are knitted on in the round from picked up stitches.

The different number of picked up stitches at the top and bottom of the cowl creates an A-line shape to hug the neck and chin, while allowing the wider bottom part to stay comfortably on your shoulders.

The pattern includes an “Option II” instruction to make a Button Closure Style cowl instead.

Finished Measurements:

One size: Approximately 12’’ (30cm) high, circumference: 20” (50cm) at top edge, and 28" (70cm) at bottom edge

Gauge:

14 sts x 30 rows to 10cm/4in square over garter stitch on 6mm/US #10 needles, lightly blocked 

Suggested Yarn: Aran weight yarn to obtain gauge.

Beach Peas Tam has a modern slouchy look and features easy to make textural stitch
patterns. It is designed as a part of a set with Beach Peas Cowl.

This quick knit project uses about one skein of 100-grams aran or bulky weight yarn.
The hat is worked in the round on circular and/or double pointed needles and requires
minimal finishing.

One size: to fit an average adult head.
