It all started with one innocent apple…
And a Labrador named Max who believes everything that falls on the kitchen floor is automatically his.
You know the type. Big eyes. Wagging tail. Zero shame.
One afternoon, while peeling apples for myself, Max sat next to me like a furry kitchen supervisor. That’s when it hit me: Why am I throwing away perfectly good apple peels when my dog would happily audition for Crunchy Snack Tester of the Year?
And just like that, our new favorite easy DIY dog snack was born:
👉 Crispy Apple Peel Chips for Dogs – delicious, low-calorie, and seriously crunchy.
Why Crunchy Dog Treats Are a Big Deal (According to Max)
Max is a Labrador. Crunchy snacks are basically his love language.
But beyond the satisfying crunch, I wanted something that was:
- Healthy for digestion
- Low in calories
- Easy to make
- And ideally… zero waste
These crunchy dog training reward treats tick every single box. Plus, they make you feel like a responsible dog parent and a sustainability hero. Win-win.

🐾 Instructions
1️⃣ Preheat oven to 225°F / 110°C for slow crisping.
2️⃣ Spread apple peels evenly on a baking tray.
3️⃣ Lightly toss with a tiny bit of coconut oil (optional).
