If you’ve ever wondered whether a dog can judge your cooking, let me assure you: yes.
My Labrador Max has perfected the art of staring at me like Gordon Ramsay wrapped in golden fur — equal parts love, pressure, and “human, don’t mess this up.”
And that’s exactly how our adventure with these healthy homemade dog treats began.
How It All Started: Me, Max, and the Mysterious Vanishing Berries
Picture this: a sunny afternoon, a bowl of freshly picked berries on the counter, and me planning my next recipe for nutrient-rich chew sticks for dogs. I turn my back for one second — and Max is suddenly licking berry juice off the floor, tail swishing like he just solved world peace.
“MAX! Did you just steal my ingredients?”
Cue his classic Labrador smile: guilty… but adorable.
That berry burglary inspired me to make a treat he could steal without getting in trouble — and the result became one of our all-time favorites: Berry and Chia Chew Sticks for Dogs.
They’re pink, pretty, portable, and packed with wholesome fuel. Also: Labrador-approved. (Extensively tested. Several times. Mostly by Max.)
Berry & Chia Chew Sticks for Dogs (Frozen, Nutritious & Delightfully Pink)
These berry and chia sticks for dogs are the perfect mix of tangy berries, creamy yogurt, and crunchy seeds — ideal for pups who love to chew, especially in warm weather. They boost gut health, support a shiny coat, and taste so good that Max once tried to open the freezer by himself. (He failed. Barely.)
Ingredients
- 1 cup (240 g) plain unsweetened Greek yogurt (no added sugar or xylitol)
- ½ cup (75 g) mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, or raspberries, pureed)
- 2 tbsp (20 g) chia seeds
- ½ cup (60 g) oat flour (to firm the mixture)
Instructions
- Puree the berries until smooth.
- In a bowl, combine yogurt, berry puree, oat flour, and chia seeds. Mix until a dough-like texture forms.
- Roll the mixture into long cylindrical sticks about 5–6 inches in length.
- Place on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for 4–5 hours until solid.
- Serve frozen for best chewiness.
Storage
Keep the sticks in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 months.
Serve straight from the freezer — Max insists this is non-negotiable.
Why These Sticks Are So Good for Your Pup
- Berries: antioxidants, vitamin C, and a dash of natural sweetness.
- Yogurt: probiotics for digestion + calcium for strong bones.
- Chia seeds: omega-3s, fiber, and that irresistible tiny crunch.
Each batch has about 320 kcal, and each chew stick comes in at roughly 25–30 kcal — pawfect for guilt-free snacking.
Max’s Verdict
Max has declared these nutrient-rich dog chew sticks his “Official Favorite Frozen Snack of All Time.”
He even sits in front of the freezer now. Patiently. Hopefully. Dramatically.
If that’s not a five-star review, I don’t know what is.
