Colouring can become a bit stressful if you get stuck comparing your finished colouring pages with the multitude of expertly colouring in pages you can find on social media. I think we sometimes forget what the point is. It certainly isn't comparison for most. The most common reason people colour has to be to relax.
One way I have found to make colouring more relaxing is to sometimes just stick to my favourites. If there's a pattern I can do without thinking too hard, or a colour palette I feel comfortable using I want to prove to you it's ok to re-use it again and again... and again.
I'm not going to take up too much of your time.
Let's dive right in.
Mandala's As Practice Pages
I started off practicing this colour palette on a Mandala colouring pages and instantly loved it! it's a slightly odd colour palette but felt so lively and cozy at the same time.
Mandalas are the perfect colouring pages to practice new colour palettes. To lower the stress level you can start off with a colour palette in mind. Check our other blog posts for more colour palette ideas. Alternatively Pinterest is an excellent app to search for colour palettes to apply to your colouring pages.
Sticking to simple bold line Mandala designs can also help to make the experience more relaxing. No stressing about going over the lines or having to consider too many details.
If your Mandala colouring pages has some large flat white spaces why not use the opportunity to practice colouring patterns in the same colour palette!

Pick A New Page - Repeat The Process
After colouring in the Mandala page I saw this colouring page and thought the same floral pattern would look so cute on the mermaids tail. Since the colouring page is quite cartoonish I felt it was asking for a more unusual colour palette and decided not just to repeat the same pattern but the same colour palette as well.
It was so fun to see the same colours and same pattern come to life on a completely different colouring page, and the best bit was not having to make too many choices while colouring.
I could just relax and enjoy.

Re-do With Minor Changes
This page was begging to be coloured in and once again all I could see in my mind was the same colour palette and pattern, but it wanted to be zhuzhed up with a minor pattern progression and by adding a bit of a hectic front door. I thoroughly enjoyed making yet another page using the same colours, seeing how these colours can be applied to a third colouring page design and still be an absolute favourite.
You'll notice the pattern on the walls transformed to bold stripes from the original lattice. I still used the same colours and floral detail, but loooove how it looked with the bold stripes.
Did my viewers on social media get sick of seeing the same palette and pattern over and over again for days? I don't know. But once again, it's not about pleasing everyone else, it's about relaxing and bringing more joy into your day to day life... and this combo brought me immense joy.
