Mira Popesco vs. Xavier Lyre - On quantum worlds & human consciousness ( 2025 )
The film is a satirical short, crafted as a playful mockumentary in which two AI-generated characters — Mira Popesco and Professor Xavier Lyre, designed as Muppet-style puppets — wander through a real science exhibition, interacting with actual visitors. Built on the visual contrast between artificial puppets and real humans, the film examines how we perceive reality, knowledge, and our own place in the cosmos.
After each of Mira’s questions, the professor’s explanations unfold into a new visual dimension: gentle, AI-generated graphic animations with soft lines and subtle colors, inspired by The Little Prince and Tintin. These inserts transform the dialogue into a philosophical journey through simulation theories, quantum mechanics, wave-function collapse, networks of consciousness, and hypotheses about the holographic nature of the universe.
Beneath the playful humor and delicate imagery lies a sharp satire: humanity’s compulsive need to place itself at the center of the cosmos, inventing patriarchal gods and simplified religions to tolerate moral corruption, ignorance, and fear of the unknown. In contrast, Eastern traditions such as Hinduism and Buddhism appear as a quiet counterpoint, hinting that many of the truths modern quantum physics is only now beginning to explore were intuitively understood long before the Western “year zero.”
The film becomes an ironic yet poetic meditation on illusion, consciousness, knowledge, and our insignificance in the vastness of the universe — wrapped in a tender, accessible, and surprisingly profound visual language.
