Remembering Toys

In this lesson, students will examine toys and the influences they have on gender and identity development. Students will share their memories of the toys from their childhood and reflect on the influence they may have on them. They will also study an infographic on the history of Barbie and discuss the influence of Barbie. They will interview an AI Barbie bot and also do some research to create their own infographic.

Aims:

• To develop students’ abilities to think and talk about the influence of toys and play on childhood development.
• To develop the ability to research information to represent and support their own views.
