“Five Windows”
Five is one of my favourite numbers, to the Pythagoreans it was the ‘number of love’. But it’s unusual for houses to have five windows! I love the asymmetrical symmetry in the architecture of this Devon country cottage. Balance is achieved through the four outer windows, reaching into each corner of the image. The imbalance then comes from the fifth window, placed rather off-centre and like an optical illusion overlapping the jutting out cobb wall.
The white render on the walls and contrasting window frames made this a perfect candidate for black and white. It would make an interesting piece of original art (possibly even slightly surreal), or indeed form the basis of a digital design.
