"I tried every neck stretch I could find and nothing lasted more than a few hours. This card changed my whole approach. Three weeks in and my neck was noticeably freer during sessions than it had been in years." Michael, 53, MA

Your upper back isn't tight. It's been holding your head up alone for years. A 9-exercise system to release the neck and upper back tension pattern that keeps guitarists stuck.

Your upper back isn't tight. It's exhausted.

The muscles across the upper back and the back of the neck are locked-long, overstretched, and fatigued from fighting the weight of a head that has drifted forward. Stretching the back of the neck makes things worse. The locked-short muscles are on the front: the chest, the scalenes, the sides of the neck. Release those first and the back can finally stop bracing.

This protocol works through three phases:

Release: loosen the chest and the muscles on the front and sides of the neck that are pulling the head forward with every hour at the instrument.

Reset: retrain the breathing pattern and postural reflex that keep the neck muscles from ever fully switching off between phrases.

Rebuild: reactivate the deep stabilizers that make it possible to hold the spine upright during a long session without effort.

9 exercises.

Clear anatomical illustrations. Sets, reps, and what you should feel for each one.

Print it, stick it on the wall, or pull it up on your iPad before you play.

What's included

  • 1 high-resolution PDF protocol card, designed for iPad or printing
  • Step-by-step anatomical illustrations for every exercise
  • Sets, reps, and plain-English execution notes
  • Built to use in 10 minutes before every practice session

This is for you if

You're 40+, you play guitar, and your neck and upper back feel chronically tight no matter how much you stretch them. You get tension at the base of the skull during or after sessions, or headaches that build as you play. Stretching gives temporary relief but never holds.

Designed by Fergus O'Connor, Manual Osteopath, Strength Coach, and Guitarist, with 18 years working with guitarists in pain. Part of the Release-Reset-Rebuild™ framework built for adult guitarists.
