Shoulder Joint Protocol Card (The Engine)
When the shoulder loses its rotational glide, the elbow and wrist are forced to pay the price. A 9-exercise system to restore the shoulder rotation guitarists lose from years of playing position.
Guitarists sustain internal rotation for long periods. Over time, this compresses the posterior capsule and restricts rotational movement. Forearm tightness, flexor tendon strain, and grip fatigue follow downstream. Restore rotation at the shoulder and the whole chain decompresses. Most players are treating the result rather than the source.
This protocol works through three phases:
Release: address the posterior capsule and the rotator cuff muscles that stiffen under sustained playing positions, plus the thoracic spine that physically constrains shoulder rotation when it stays rigid.
Reset: reintroduce controlled rotational movement at the exact range playing demands, without loading the restriction before it is ready.
Rebuild: progressively load the internal and external rotators to build the balanced strength that stops the pattern from returning.
9 exercises. Clear anatomical illustrations. Sets, reps, and what you should feel for each one.
Print it, stick it on the wall, or pull it up on your iPad before you play.
What's included
- 1 high-resolution PDF protocol card, designed for iPad or printing
- Step-by-step anatomical illustrations for every exercise
- Sets, reps, and plain-English execution notes
- Built to use in 10 minutes before every practice session
This is for you if
You're 40+, you play guitar, and your shoulder aches during or after sessions. Your forearm or wrist fatigues faster than it should. You feel restricted reaching for certain chord shapes or notice your picking arm tires on anything that demands sustained effort.
"My forearm kept giving out and every physio went for my elbow. The first time I did the shoulder release work in this card something shifted that I'd never felt before. Two months later my forearm tolerance has roughly doubled." Marie, 51, Toronto
