Discovering Disability is a trip to a special playground where children with disabilities can play and enjoy time together. This lesson plan has been written to allow you to introduce some of the most common disabilities to your class. The disabilities featured are: spina bifida, cerebral palsy, deafness, blindness and dyslexia. This is a wonderfully gentle way to explain disability and differences to children. We are all unique and have our own challenges in life and children are very accepting of this.

This lesson plan is age appropriate and includes relaxation techniques such as breathing techniques and simple yoga poses as well as basic mindfulness strategies.

Mindfulness and relaxation have been proven to increase children's concentration, create a calm atmosphere and even increase attainment. It is a wonderful addition to any setting.

All my lesson plans are created for people with no prior knowledge of relaxation and mindfulness techniques and carefully go through every technique step by step. They also include a fun script for you to read through which incorporates all the techniques learned into an enjoyable, relaxing story which is completely age appropriate.

My lessons all come with child and teacher assessment sheets which are fully editable and enable you to show evidence for the progress and learning for each child.

This lesson is most suitable for EYFS, KS1 and KS2 (3-11 years).
