IMPACT OF MOTHER TONGUE ON STUDENTS PERFORMANCE IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE
The aim of this study is the impact of mother tongue on student performance in the study of English language in secondary school in Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu State. The aim is to know how the mother tongue affects the learning of English language in Secondary school especially in 10 selected schools in Enugu North Local Government Area of Enugu State. These objectives of this study are to find out the level at which mother tongue can interfere in the learning of English language in secondary schools; o find out if there are qualified teachers who can teach English language effectively; to identify peculiar areas of problems posed by Igbo dialect to English language. This research consists of a title page, approval page, certification, abstract, table of content, Chapters One to Five (from introduction to conclusion), references and appendices.
