A client contract and a one-page preflight checklist written for thermal drone work, roof moisture surveys and solar PV inspections. Most drone contracts are written for photo and video. They say nothing about what an infrared image can't prove, or what happens when the wind picks up or the irradiance never gets to 600 W/m2. This one does.

Lead files

- Thermal Inspection Services Agreement (Word and PDF, 3 pages). Scope by job type, what thermography can and cannot do, client responsibilities, weather postponement vs cancellation with a trip fee, pilot authority and FAA airspace, deposit and balance, report delivery time, image rights, insurance and liability placeholders. Schedule A for scope and fees. Schedule B lists the go/no-go conditions in plain words, so the client agrees to them before you show up.

- Thermal Preflight and Inspection Checklist (Word and PDF, one US Letter page). Office prep, solar limits from IEC TS 62446-3 (600 W/m2 in plane, wind, cloud, 15 minute wait after irradiance swings), roof limits from ASTM C1153 (24 hours without rain, dry roof, wind, after sunset), emissivity and reflected temperature setup, Part 107 visibility, cloud clearance, airspace and night lighting, capture habits that cut false positives, and a GO or NO-GO box.

- Thermal Pilot Field Guide (PDF, 3 pages). Go/no-go rules, emissivity and reflections, IEC classes of abnormality, what delta-T does and doesn't prove, and the limits language to put in every report.

Bonus thermal report kit

- Roof Moisture Thermal Report and Solar PV Thermal Report templates (Word). Conditions table with a limit column, delta-T severity table, emissivity and Tref fields, radiometric notes, flight and airspace record (airspace class, LAANC or authorization), thermal and visual image pairs, sign-off.

- One completed example report for a roof and one for a solar array (Word and PDF), with invented data and images marked EXAMPLE IMAGE, NOT REAL INSPECTION DATA.

- Thermal Anomaly Log (Excel, works in Google Sheets). Severity dropdowns, delta-T projected to 1000 W/m2, suspect area and percent of roof, and a Conditions Check tab that reads PASS or NO-GO.

Good to know

Works with any radiometric thermal drone. No Canva account needed. Open the Word files in Word, Pages or Google Docs, and the log in Excel or Google Sheets. Fill the [brackets] and add your logo.
