Walk in Boston # 6, Castle Island at South Boston
This self-guided tour is minimalist. Above all, it allows you to feel close to the high seas while still being in Boston and if you like running, this is a good place to do it.
If you have children, there are playgrounds and a bay with calm waters for them.
For everyone, panels along the way and next to the castle tell the history of the place.
In season, you can enjoy often-uncrowded beaches.
The nearest metro station is 3 miles away; this will therefore become a 9 miles outdoor walk along the coast if you do not have your own means of transportation to get there.
NB: if you have not already done so on another site, you can read the philosophy and general content of this itinerary by opening the “About the walks” link above or below.
