DIFFUSION DASH: A Cultural Diffusion Game
Diffusion Dash is a fast paced cultural geography game where students must spread a new idea across a population before time runs out. Players control the hearth, the center of a new cultural trend, and move through a crowded map touching neutral people to convert them into adopters. Each contact increases the percentage of the population that has adopted the culture, which is tracked live on a progress bar.
The map is not empty. Physical barriers block movement, forcing players to navigate corridors and bottlenecks just like ideas must move through real world geography. Some people are resisters, and touching them causes culture shock that stuns the player and allows adoption to fall behind. This creates a powerful model of how ideas face resistance, geography, and social friction as they spread.
You will receive a game guide with a student worksheet and the link to the online game for sharing with students. If you are a teacher and are worried about the game being blocked by your school's server, contact us; there are two easy ways to make the game available besides the direct link.
