19 Steps

19 Steps is a charming walled walkway, situated in the middle of Budleigh Salterton seafront just off Marine Parade. The name now seems a misnomer, being closer to 30 steps in all! But the views from Madeira Walk as you approach the seafront down from Coastguard Road are stunning, you can see for miles.

This shot features in my Budleigh Salterton 2025 calendar. I liked how the vibrant sunset was mirrored in the brick wall lining these two walkways. I shot this with higher ISO and in HDR mode, given minimal light on this wintry sunset. Notice the blurry figures and car at the bottom of the path, which denotes movement captured between the frames.
