Jagged Little Frill jumper
Those of you who have knitted other Knitterish Design garments will know that I normally name my patterns after Lincolnshire Wolds villages or topography. I always say that the combination of yarn (especially that from Wool is the Answer), plus something I’ve seen whilst driving or walking around my beautiful, tranquil part of Lincolnshire is usually enough to make my creative thoughts rushing around my brain. Indeed I often know what I’m going to call one of my designs before I’ve even got it fully on the needles! This latest design is no different. The original thoughts came from wanting to put the edging I used on my Ridge and Furrow shawl to use again. I also wanted to play around with braids, a provisional cast-on and an i-cord cast off. But as this pattern was taking shape in my head another quite unexpected though rattled through.
Alanis Morisette and, if you’re of as certain age I’m sure you remember her seminal album from the 1990’s ‘Jagged Little Pill’. I really don’t know why I should have thought of this after so many years, I can’t even remember when I last listened to her music but, no matter how hard I tried the name just wouldn’t let go. So, with a slight modification which I trust Ms Morrisette will forgive—assuming she ever reads this— my latest jumper, Jagged Little Frill, was born.
The jumper comes in sizes 35" to 50" bust and uses 1-2 100gm balls of 4 ply yarn with the two contrasts using approximately 1 ball each.
