BEATLES "BLACKBIRD" HANDWRITTEN LYRICS. Poster-quality Printable Download.

The Beatles’ song “Blackbird” eventually found itself nested on the 3rd track on side 2 of the 1968 album “The Beatles”, more commonly known as “The White Album”.

Although credited to Lennon-McCartney, the song was actually recorded by McCartney alone with an acoustic guitar in studio two at Abbey Road on 11th June 1968.

The rhythmic clicking during the song sounds very much like a metronome, but it was in fact McCartney’s foot, with a microphone placed next to it, tapping on the parquet wood flooring of the studio to keep the consistent beat.

The whistling song of a blackbird singing in the background near the end of the song, which was taped by a sound engineer in his garden in 1965 and then added to Abbey Road’s sound effects library that was found and chosen by McCartney to be included on the track would suggest the song is about birds. However, McCartney’s lyrics to “Blackbird” were inspired by the civil rights movement in the USA and “Blackbird” representing a typical Black American woman facing oppression.

This poster shows Paul McCartney's handwritten lyrics to the intro of the song "Blackbird" including his signature, beneath a silhouette of a blackbird singing at dusk to a bright moon.

Will look fantastic if framed, especially if printed at UK A3 / USA Tabloid or Ledger (but will resize to any).
