Hi Lovies,
It's April. happy Spring and we celebrate Autism Awareness Month. This month I am shining a light on and for my son Nicholas, who is on the autism spectrum. He is the love and light of my life. I believe God chose me for a reason to be his mama and I take this role very seriously. If you don't know, Nicholas is currently in a residence. Even though he is not home with me, now more than ever I am called and purposed to not only advocate and speak up on his behalf but also the other amazing individuals I see and even those I don't see who for whatever reason, has come to reside in a setting outside of their loving homes.
I sometimes think not much light is being shed on our children who needs more intense support and supervision. They seem like the forgotten ones. My mission is to make sure that they are seen as the beautiful, wonderfully and fearfully made individuals God created them to be. To be able to live a life they love and deserve. They are not ordinary. They are indeed extraordinary.
Every day for me is autism awareness and acceptance day. Every day is a chance for me to shine the light on this disorder that so many people see as challenging, disruptive and ugly. It is up to each of us to continue to remind others that autism shows individuality and uniqueness, teaches unconditional love and patience and bring a light into the hearts of mothers who are extraordinarily created to care for these special children. I want all of these amazing moms to know that they were chosen, they are one of a kind, just like their special child, and that God is always walking right by our sides, and we are never alone.
So, as we celebrate autism awareness month, please know that autism lives with us every single day. So, mamas, continue to shine your light and don't be afraid to shine a light on your child with autism. There is no need to feel guilty or ashamed because no one else could do it like you do. No one else can love them like you do. You are blessed, favored and chosen.
Take a bow. Be proud of who you are and whose you are. Be excited for the future. Never give up hope. You got this!
Until next time,
Denise
