Happy Love Month and Black History Month! Can you believe it's already February?
Many of us made resolutions for the new year that are already broken or forgotten about. This is a usual occurrence. The new year for many signifies new opportunities, new thinking but then the pressures of this world pull us back into our old way of life.
For many of us women, especially us autism moms, it can be difficult to find that joy, that peace, that space for loving on ourselves. You see, our main focus is almost always on our awesome child with special needs. It's hard for us to see and be anything other than mom.
How do we find the time to focus on us, if even for a few minutes?
We have to first realize that we MATTER! I MATTER! You MATTER! We deserve, more than anything or anyone else in our lives, LOVE!
We always hear the saying "If you don't take care of yourself, no one else will". Oh, that is so very true. Especially now that the new buzz words are "Take care of your mental health".
Are we taking time away from all the noise, all the chaos to just focus on us? Turn off the TV, take a break from social media, stop the scroll. Step back and take deep breaths and meditate, if only for a few minutes. Are we eating healthy foods, drinking enough water, exercising? Find the time for YOU!
Do you know what brings you joy? What makes you smile, laugh out loud? When was the last time you did something that made you feel good? Now more than ever, we have to be good to ourselves. We have to be good and speak good to ourselves.
It doesn't surprise me, but I marvel at the way we take care of others or worry about others but doesn't give that same attention to us. Why is that? The same way we can give to others, let us practice that same gift of giving to ourselves. Be good to you. Let this year be a year that you decide to take care of you!
Take a look at your schedule. Open up you planners. Have you schedule some time for yourself? I can bet that it's filled with your child's or family members appointments, bills to be paid, calls to be made but there is nothing there for you. Make yourself a priority.
Happy Love Month. Take Care of YOU! Be Good to YOU!
You deserve good things and ALL of it in abundance!!
Stay Blessed and favored.
Love,
Denise
