Support is crucial

As I speak to other moms who have children with special needs, I most often than not hear the words "I'm so tired" This is a tiring journey we are on and some of us decide that we can do it on our own, but we cannot. Support is most crucial. Who is in your "circle of support"? Family members, friends, teachers, therapists, doctors, paras?

Please know that your circle of support is so important for your well-being as well as your child's. Especially now that everywhere we turn, we hear the words "mental health". How are we truly doing, feeling? Naturally, our response to this question is "I'm doing okay" but are we truly doing okay?

We all need support, no matter who we are. We need support when we need to find some time for ourselves just to breathe, to cope with all that we have to do for ourselves, our children and other family members.

Many of us moms believe we are superwomen and no one else can do things like we do, maybe so but let's give others a chance to see how they can assist us, they best way they can. We don't need to do everything by ourselves anymore. All we need to do sometimes is to ask. Remember the saying "we have not, because we ask not."

Caring for a loved one with a disability can become tiresome and overwhelming. It's in our best interest to put aside our ego, our pride and reach out to those who can help shoulder some of this overwhelm. There is respite for our children where someone can in the home for a few hours so you can get a break. There are home health aides who can assist with household chores. There are overnight services or day or sleepaway camps where our children can have fun and socialize while we get a break. Take as many breaks as you need. It will be good for you and your child. Get support, get help, don't be afraid or feel guilty to ask.

When I created the Autism Mom Concierge Consulting services it was because I saw how overwhelmed moms like me were with all that we had on our To Do list. Sometimes we don't know where to begin or we begin but never finish. I am here to help you do just that, to complete and check off your To Do list so you can have more time freedom for yourself and to enjoy time with your family.

Let me support you. Schedule a time so we can connect and talk about what you need to get done.
