Spring into Summer

As I write this, I am excited that we are in my birthday month, and I will be celebrating all month long. Happy birthday to my fellow readers who have birthdays in June as well.

Summer is my favorite time of the year. It is the season that most feels like when I was growing up in the Caribbean. We had so much fun. Some of us don't even know what fun is anymore. We get so bogged down by life, that life itself is passing us by.

What are you looking forward to most for the summer? Anything holding you back from springing into this new season?

What are you willing to let go in order to spring ahead?. We hold on to so much sometimes that we stay in stuck from one season to the next. If we don't let go of the baggage we are carrying, we cannot make space for the wonderful future that is waiting for us on the horizon.

Someone did you wrong, called you out of your name, said something that wasn't so nice about you and you're still holding on to the hurt. Do you know that so many people haven't let the past go and they have been holding on to hurts for several years? How can this be? You do know you are not hurting the other person, right? You are keeping yourself back from your destiny.

As special needs moms, we tend to hold on to so much and we question ourselves a lot. Why me, why my child? Could I have done something different? Is it something I did? Whatever we question, it's time to let go so we can move forward, not only for ourselves but our children too. They need us to see them as who they are, not as mistakes or challenges but beautiful, unique individuals.

As I write this, my son has just moved from one residence to the next. Another transition, for everyone involved. Yes, I was one of those mothers who questioned myself, a lot. Especially since he is my only child.

But I have come to realize that he is who he is, and he needs what we all crave, unconditional love. I just need to be there as much as I can and just to make sure he gets what he needs to have a happy and healthy life. Whatever I can change, I do. Whatever I cannot, I let it go. I refuse to hold on to the past. I am looking forward to a bright and amazing future for all of us.

I hope you will be able to let go of the past and spring into what God has prepared for and promised to you. I am ready for all of it. Are you?

Have an awesome summer!!

Until next time.

With love,

Denise J
