Happy New Year. I really do hope your new year is happy. If you are reading this, it means you are still in the land of the living and you have survived what you thought would have taken you out. So be grateful for God's favors and blessings!
As we embark on this new year, what are you most looking forward to? What changes will you be making? What do you want to do, to have? Who do you want to be? Yes, it's a lot to ponder but we have all year to figure it all out, one day at a time, and as my friend Brett would say, one breath at a time.
It gets particularly challenging for us, moms of children with special needs, as our focus is more on our children than ourselves. I want to remind you that if you are not well you are not able to give anything. We hear this so many times, and it so true. You must remember to give from your overflow. You must have something left over for YOU!
Take for instance this past holiday season. I decided that I would share my holidays with my son Nicholas, who is 20, on the autism spectrum and resides in an out of state residential placement. I would give him the week of Christmas and I would take the week of New Year's and it worked out well. I didn't have any guilt or regrets about it. I felt good about it because I knew that I had to reserve some time for ME to refresh and replenish. We must find the time to do what needs to be done for us.
As I look forward to 2023, I am excited about the launch of my business "The Autism Mom Concierge" created to assist and support other autism moms like myself, to plan, execute and complete their "TO DO" list. Too often we become stuck and confused, year after year, and put things off because we do not know where to find that professional 1:1 assistance. Now you do have someone who understands the journey and is waiting to provide you with excellent personalized and professional service so you can have time freedom to take care of you!
So, this year, there might be a lot going on but remember there is help, you just have to ask!
I wish you and your loved ones a safe, peaceful, healthy and prosperous new year and I look forward to speaking with you and helping you to GET THINGS DONE!
