NUMBER FORMATION Posters & Play Mats

Transform numeracy lessons into playtime and engage your kids in learning how to write their numbers with these fun, versatile racetrack number formation mats! The pack includes the numbers 0 to 9, with versions in both color and black line.

There are so many ways you can use these play mats in your preschool early numeracy lessons: as posters, tracing mats, counting cards, clip cards or simply as reinforcement worksheets. 

The cute racetrack theme and fuzzy-felt style graphics are specially designed to appeal to little ones. The green and red “traffic lights” indicate the start and stop points for the tracing lines, and the car park serves as a counting area (there are different styles of play mat you can choose for different counting activities).  

As tracing mats, these number formation sheets not only promote numeracy skills but can also help to develop fine motor skills in young children. Interactive tracing activities (such as making and tracing the numbers using playdough, toy cars or markers) help little ones strengthen finger muscles and develop the hand-eye coordination and dexterity essential for handwriting readiness! 

You can also display them in your classroom and use them as interactive counting posters to give your children a visual reference for how each number is written. Print them at different sizes for different activities: you could print them at full-size for use as posters, or print two per sheet to create clip cards or counting cards.

I have also provided variations for the numbers 4 and 9, so you can choose which style to teach according to the country or area you live in, or your own personal preference.

Plus I’ve created them as both editable PDF and Powerpoint files, so if your school or district requires the use of a particular font or you want to change the language of the play mats you can easily do so!
