For this session of ‘Dance Around the World’ we will be visiting India to learn some Bollywood-style dancing. Bollywood dancing emerged from traditional, classical, and folk dancing across India, before gaining global recognition as the colourful, dynamic, and highly theatrical dance style seen in Indian films. There are many different styles of Bollywood (Kathak and Bhangria, for example) and for this routine we are drawing inspiration from a few of these styles.
Students find this topic engaging, vibrant, and a lot of fun. I've always found it very popular with my students, and it easily sparks conversations and links into other school subjects, such as Geography & Religious Studies.
