Italy
Suggested Track - Tarantella, Mulberry Street
Target Age - KS2
Performed - Ideally Duet, Can be adapted to Solo
For this session of ‘Dance Around the World’ we will be visiting Italy, to learn a Tarantella.
It won’t surprise you to find out that this dance owes its name to the tarantula, and the hysteria of Taratism caused by its bite. The only cure to this condition apparently being a frenzied dance, now often performed at events and celebrations, often accompanied with a tambourine.
This dance is high energy and fast-paced. This lesson is choreographed to be performed as a duet, but it can also be altered to work as a solo.
