For this session of ‘Dance Around the World’ we will be visiting the United States of America, to learn some cheerleading.
Cheerleading is an incredibly popular style of performance, often including stunts, rolls, leaps, tumbling, and (most importantly) cheers! Originally an all-male activity, cheerleading’s popularity has grown over the last century, and is incredibly recognised as a sport and competition in its own right.
This dance style is strong, sharp, energetic and uniformed. The main objective is to bring joy and cheer to the audience, so this style demands a bit of cheesiness too. This lesson is choreographed to be performed in groups of four, but is easily adaptable to work in smaller numbers or as a solo.
