Kawari Hishi Sashiko Pattern PDF — Diamond Lattice Variation Template
✦ Kawari Hishi (Diamond Lattice Variation): Japanese-Inspired Sashiko Pattern ✦
A printable, true-scale PDF for kawari hishi, a diagonal diamond lattice where every line breaks into a small zigzag partway across, mirrored so the grid keeps its balance, worked in the hand one calm line at a time.
Hishi (菱), the diamond, is one of sashiko's oldest and best-documented lattice families, traditionally read as a wish for family and long life. This kawari (variant) takes that diamond grid and breaks each edge with a small zigzag step instead of a plain straight line. This zigzag isn't a documented traditional motif; we're calling it what it is, a modern variation on the classic hishi diamond family, the same honest naming we use for our other kawari patterns. Shown here in a single color, indigo on white or the reverse.
