This oversized sweater is knit in the round, from the bottom up, with alternating stripes of 4 ply and lace weight yarns. The needle size remains the same to give a light and open texture to the sweater. It is divided at the armholes and is knitted flat for the front and back; then the shoulders are joined together with a three needle bind off. The neck at the front is shaped with a few shoulder rows; the neckband is picked up and knitted afterwards. Sleeves are picked up from the front and back edges and knit with less ease for a tighter fit than the body.

Yarn recommendations:
This pattern uses two different yarns, a 4ply yarn and a lace weight yarn. You can use a 4ply yarn as yarn 2 if you prefer.
For the 4ply yarn, choose a fibre that has great stitch definition and a little drape. Your lace yarn can be fluffy or not, and should give a more open fabric when used on your gauge needles. Together, the two yarns give interesting texture and a drapey fabric that is very light to wear.

Testers used some of the following yarns:
Drops Alpaca/silk 4ply
Ritual Dyes Sock
Truly Hooked sock
King Cole Drifter 4ply
King Cole merino blend 4ply

Malabrigo alpaca/silk lace
West Yorkshire Spinners Exquisite Lace
Truly Hooked suri lace
