Knitted from the top down, in the round, this raglan style sweater is slightly cropped, but easily adaptable to your desired length. It has a textured sleeve for interest, with the option of using a trim colour on the ribbed sections.  The sweater features bust darts to add shaping, while removing the excess fabric often seen at the underarm with raglans.

Sample yarns used: Truly Hooked DK with nylon (75% superwash merino 25% nylon, 225 m per 100 g)

Materials:
700-1520m DK yarn (see notes below)
4 mm needles for body with cable long enough to fit around your bust (a short circular or dpns may be preferred for the sleeves).
3.5 mm needles with cable long enough to fit around your bust (a short circular or dpns may be preferred for the sleeves) for ribbing.
Stitch markers.
Waste yarn or stitch holder for sleeves.
Darning needle.

Gauge:
20 stitches and 24 rows in 4’’ / 10 cm square, knit in stocking stitch with larger needles, when blocked

Sizes:
This pattern has been designed to remove the excess underarm fabric often seen with raglan sweaters.
Choose the size to make based on your upper chest circumference (measure above your bust where the
underarm seam will sit) plus your preferred ease (sample shown with 2’’ ease).
The extra fabric for the bust is added with vertical bust darts. As written, the pattern will increase to the measurement shown in the chart. For a fuller bust you can add extra stitches. For a smaller difference
between upper chest and bust, work fewer increases.

Alternative yarns:
Samples shown use Truly Hooked DK with nylon (75% superwash merino 25% nylon, 225 m per 100 g) in Summer Rain and Dance Party with solid trim colours. This is a merino based yarn, for softness, drape and good stitch definition, with nylon for durability. If substituting, choose a yarn that feels comfortable to wear and handles well without stretching too much. Cotton and acylic yarns work well. Avoid yarns that are very slippery, such as silk.

Testers used the following yarns (this list is not exhaustive):
Three Violet Buttons Pima Cotton DK
Stylecraft Special DK
Drops Lima DK
James C Brett DK with Merino
Schjeepes Wanderlust and Colourcrafter
