This self-guided tour takes you to neighborhoods that were industrial for a long time and then deserted before becoming very popular. The development of the High Line and the Promenade along the Hudson River have indeed transformed them and are still transforming them. This will therefore be an opportunity for unusual architectural photos and surprising encounters but at least on the first part, you will undoubtedly be in the crowd.

This walk is the fourth of my four favorites for introducing newcomers to the city and since 2021, it has two additional visits which can lengthen it significantly or justify doing it in two times: that of a new hall station at the start and a small artificial island halfway. This makes the description a little complex, but the map shows you the whole tour with these two additions. It should allow you to see what is involved when several options are offered. Also note that given its popularity, you may need to reserve your entry time on the High Line so check beforehand.
