This self-guided tour takes is a long 6 miles walk that can be completed in at least two sessions. It's presented here in one go, with possible variations.

You can also use a bicycle to shorten the walking distances.

It takes you through neighborhoods that were once industrial, then deserted, before becoming very popular thanks to the development of the High Line and the Hudson River promenade.

It now starts from a recently renovated train station and detours to a small artificial garden island. It also ends not far from a ferry terminal, which would allow you to explore the river with beautiful views of Manhattan if that's what you're looking for.

It will therefore be an opportunity for photos of unusual architecture and surprising encounters, but on some sections, it can get very crowded.

This is the fourth of my four favorites for introducing newcomers to the city.
