This self-guided walk is the second of my four favorites for introducing the city to newcomers.

It explores the main attractions of Lower Manhattan, the One World Tower, the Statue of Liberty seen from afar, some churches, the Stock Exchange, etc.

It is almost a 4 miles loop that will take you at least 2 hours of walking while strolling and taking pictures, much more if you do some of the visits and almost a day if you also take the ferries to Staten Island, Ellis Island, Liberty Island and/or Governors Island.

Not far from your ending point, you will be at the start of Walk in NYC Walk # 15 which offers you to visit Bay Ridge after a ferry ride of about 40 minutes.

At your ending point, you will be in the middle of Walk in NYC Walk # 3 which you could take on one side towards the Brooklyn Bridge and beyond or on the other towards Chinatown and Little Italy.

It is therefore a walk that opens up wide possibilities for discovering this entire southern part of Manhattan.

NB: if you have not already done so on another site, you can read the philosophy and general content of this itinerary by opening the “About the walks” link above or below.
