Shimmering Sea
From Budleigh Salterton beach, looking west along the coast you can see the 15 miles or so across to Torquay and Brixham. Here’s one of my favourite examples of that view, taken atop the cliffs on the South West Coast Path from Budleigh. This high up perspective gives an expansive view of the sea, providing stunning seascapes.
I liked how the low winter sun dapples the sea extensively as it peers through partial cloud, giving a golden glow to the picture. Zooming in to the details of the foreground reminds me of those ‘scratch art’ pictures I’ve done before as a kid, whereby each little scratch of the black coating using the scraper tool reveals glimpses of the shiny paper underneath.
