I always wanted to become a nurse before I graduated from high school(LWYoung). It was not easy being admitted into the nursing program where I live in The Bahamas.
My beginnings in this profession
My career began with the idea that I wanted to become a nurse and I truly believed it, despite the fact that I had to return to evening school after graduating from high school. I am a believer that if you can think and see anything invisible you desire ; then it is possible to manifest in the visible.
The Bible says ALL things are possible to those who believe. Throughout my life I have found this to be so true. I believe it is true for you also. Nomatter how dim your future may look, ALWAYS be optimistic that things will change one day.
Because of the struggles I had in the beginning of going back to school after graduating, I finally got the subjects that required my admittance into nursing program. I was so excited and thrilled.
After successfully being admitted, I was determined to put my all in and serve my fellow man with excellence.
Serve with excellence
And that I did. I became so passionate about it that I elevated to Nursing Officer rank # 1. A high ranking position to provide me with the opportunity and training to serve women not only in The Bahamas but also globally.
As a seasoned nurse and midwife with labor and delivery specialties; I am pregnant with experiences, and evidenced based information I would love to share with you and your family and friends.
There is no doubt I am captivated by the field of pregnancy care with women. Being a woman myself, as a nurse and mom, I am very sensitive to their needs and want to make their pregnant journey as easy as possible.
Labor is indeed hard work!; especially for first time mamas, and then the fears of the unknown. I want to erase them and give women confidence, peace and joy for their upcoming birth. It's a joyous celebration and should be seen that way.

I am happily married and blessed with five wonderful children and I believe that the journey to parenthood should be happy, healthy, and safe.
I give all the glory to God for allowing me the opportunity to help pregnant families succeed in better outcomes. I retired from the Princess Margaret Hospital in 2018, and one of the reason was because I wanted to do more to help families overcome the fears of labor and birth.
I really felt sorry for young ladies as they came in to have their babies and were so afraid. Many of them even sucked their fingers and called for their mothers!!! Not boyfriend or husband.
A lot of these fears stem from what we saw on TV, what our parent told us., and also what we do not know about birth and our bodies. Knowledge of how the body works and the mental capacity to control pain in labor is paramount.
Did you know fear can give you MORE PAIN?
Many of these fears can be erased with knowledge that is true and skill. I found that working in the hospital in 2018 was only preventing me from helping women to come into their labor filled with joy and excitement.
So many were and still are unprepared. In some cases MANY had to end up having a C -section because their labor became unmanageable.
