About Me

I'm Graham Tippett. I write guitar books for people who can already play a bit and have reached the point where more information has stopped helping.

I learned in the UK, including a spell studying under Guthrie Govan and Eric Roche, and I've been teaching in one form or another ever since. There are forty-odd books with my name on them now, most of which exist because I wanted the thing and couldn't find it.

They all come from one observation. Almost every guitar book is organised for printing rather than for playing — scales by shape, chords by root, everything filed the way a dictionary is filed. It's a sensible way to lay out a page and a useless way to build a vocabulary, which is why so many of us own a shelf of books and use almost nothing in them. What's missing usually isn't information. It's a reason to reach for one thing rather than another.

So what's here is systems rather than reference. Fewer things, organised so you can actually use them.

Everything is a PDF. It arrives immediately, it's yours to keep, and there's no subscription, no course platform and no login to forget.
