Authority, earned.

Auctoritas was the Roman word for a particular kind of authority: not the power to command, but the standing that makes people listen. It was earned through judgment shown over time, and it could not be claimed or bought.

That is the standard this practice holds itself to, and the standard these programs are built to help you meet.

The Cyber Auctoritas seal, a gold A within a ring of laurel.

Who we are

Cyber Auctoritas is an independent cybersecurity practice built by senior security practitioners. We build and run security programs for organizations that have outgrown spreadsheets but do not need, and cannot carry, an enterprise GRC suite.

The work behind every program in this store comes from building and running security programs in financial services, the defense industrial base, higher education, manufacturing and operational technology, and member associations. Those programs were tested by auditors, cyber insurers, customers' security reviews and real incidents, across frameworks including NIST CSF 2.0, CIS Controls v8.1, ISO/IEC 27001, NIST SP 800-171 and CMMC, SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI DSS, GLBA, NYDFS Part 500 and the NIST AI RMF.

Our purpose. To give every organization the security program a well-run enterprise would build, at a size and price it can actually adopt and keep running.

Our vision. A market where a security program is judged by how it performs on its worst day, not by the badges it collected on its best.

What we value. Judgment over theater: we would rather name the one thing to fix this quarter than hand you a hundred findings ranked by color. Honest claims: every program states exactly which framework requirements it supports, and stops there. Evidence, not assertion: a control that cannot be shown working does not exist yet. Built to be owned: editable files and plain methods you can run without us. Proportion: effort follows risk.

What the programs are, and what they are not

A passed audit is not a secure program. The industry has become very good at producing certificates and badges quickly, and those artifacts increasingly say little about whether a program holds when something actually goes wrong.

These programs take the other road. They are the operating system of a program: who owns what, how a decision is made and recorded, how often it is reviewed, and what evidence proves it happened.

They are not a compliance certification, and they do not pretend to be. Each series states exactly which framework requirements it supports, and stops there. Your auditor makes the compliance judgment; these give you something worth putting in front of them.

One method, delivered three ways.

Programs

The products in this store: complete, editable programs you adopt and run yourself.

Advisory

Senior security leadership on retainer: a dedicated security leader from the practice who owns your program, strategy and board narrative on a weekly cadence. Also available: scored maturity assessments with a phased roadmap, and audit-readiness engagements.

Platform

The AtlasSec platform runs the same methods as software: assessment, risk register, incident response and board reporting in one system of record.
