All around the world people put up statues, but why? Who are these people we celebrate with statues? And what do the statues think of this?
This lesson plan explores the role of statues within our society. Students are challenged to think about both the sculptors and the models and their contrasting roles. The focus of the lesson is communication and fluency.
The lesson includes a variety of discussion, conversation and writing tasks that you can use to get students thinking and talking about the image. These are followed by some suggestions for digital creation tasks and follow-up research tasks.

You can access the sample version of the materials here: http://bit.ly/The-Staue-Demo
It’s not necessary to use all of the tasks in the plan, you can choose to use any of the tasks individually or change the order of the tasks depending on the approach you want to take and the level of your students.
