I live in rural Lincolnshire, in a small village on the edge of the Wolds. My part of Lincolnshire is renowned for its big skies and lovely landscapes and this pattern, which is part of my Lincolnshire Shawlscapes, reflects the beauty of the land which surrounds my village.

I am lucky to have quite a few very old trees within my garden and they provide year-round joy and this shawl was inspired by the winter trees: bare, stark branches with the sunset showing through and the wind causing movement which produced lots of flashes of light and shadows. I hope you enjoy knitting and wearing this pattern.

The shawl itself has a finished size of approximately 180 x 70 cm depending on the level of blocking

To make this you will need three 100 gm (410 metres) balls of 4 ply yarn using one ball for the main colour and the other two as contrast colours. I used Wool is the Answer yarns “Silver” and “Grey” as the two contrast colours (www.woolistheanswer.co.uk). The main colour was “Lemon Sherbet Sparkle” and I used almost a full ball, the two contrasting colours use approximately half a ball each.
