+++This is a measure and cut pattern which means that there are NO TEMPLATES to print off and match up- Yay! You need a rotary cutter, ruler and mat and you can cut the pattern pieces straight from the fabric. This is easier than it sounds because the pieces are all simple squares and rectangles.

When you buy this pattern, you have my permission to make this bag to sell- no mass production allowed of course but a few to sell at craft fairs or online, that sort of thing is fine. All I ask is that you credit me as the designer. I wish you all the success in the world with sales!

All measurements are in INCHES.

A weekender bag is just the thing for an extended overnight stay somewhere- something about a weekender just feels so right and when you can make one yourself which is strong and practical but beautiful at the same time, life seems to be pretty great.
This bag has everything that you need – it is roomy, it has pockets everywhere and sturdy handles. It is also a great place to show off an awesome hero print fabric because the sides are deliberately uncluttered without compromising on storage space. Happy dance time!

Pattern Rating: intermediate with some knowledge assumed.

Finished Size: 20 ½” long x 11” high x 10” deep

Suggested Fabrics: quilting weight cotton, denim, canvas, furnishing fabrics, linen, needle cord, waxed cotton, oilcloth

TIP: NEVER pass a curtain or furnishing remnant bin without having a rummage if you are a bag maker! Those fabrics are the perfect weight!

Gather these supplies:
Fabric:
¾ yd. main canvas fabric or similar for the exterior
¾ yd. coordinating solid canvas for the trims
1 ¾ yds. lining fabric
Fat Quarter mesh fabric to coordinate with your main canvas

Interfacing:
2 ¼ yds. foam interfacing. I am using Style-Vil by Vlieseline, By Annie's Soft & Stable works well too.
Fat eighth S320 fusible interfacing (Vlieseline) for the inner lined slip pockets or alternatively, Pellon Craft Fuse

Everything Else:
Zippers:
- 1x 20” #5 metal zipper for the top. Mine is a double one but it doesn’t have to be.
- 1x 6” #5 metal zipper for the front zipper pocket
- 1x 4” #5 zipper for the end pocket*
- 2x 7” #3 plastic zippers to coordinate for the lining
*There is nothing wrong with putting one of these each end of the bag if you want an extra pocket.
1 ¾ yds. of 1 ½” wide webbing to coordinate with your main fabric for the handles
3” wide x ¾ yd. long leather or vegan leather to decorate the webbing handles
2 snap closures (ideally about the same colour as the zipper teeth) for the end mesh pockets
Tools to put the snaps on with
Clear drying glue suitable for fabric
Coordinating threads for all fabrics and trims
Your usual sewing needs including scissors, markers, and extra feet for your sewing machine (zipper foot for example). You know, the usual stuff!
