Walk in NYC # 13, East and Central Harlem
This self-guided walk lets you experience Latino and black culture by first walking along two lively thoroughfares where street life is the main attraction.
You will then pass through neighborhoods that are becoming gentrified, often with a long historical and architectural past, and you will find many small restaurants with an alternative atmosphere.
You will also see many colorful shops and street vendors, beautiful rows of brownstone houses, a surprising mix of residents with eccentric clothing or attitudes, art galleries, a jazz museum, a quiet garden and a library with exhibits on African-American culture.
