“Glaslyn to Llyn Llydaw” - Panoramic
Having climbed the Pyg Track and almost reaching the summit, this is a multi-photo panorama of the awe-inspiring view you’re treated to while your legs burn. It certainly gave me the second (or maybe fifth!) wind I needed to reach the top!
The zig-zagging track on the left is Pyg Track itself, steeply descending to Glaslyn, the highest lake on Snowdon at 600m. The path continues in the middle-distance, following beneath the ridge of Crib Goch on the left of the photo and overlooking the two lakes, Glaslyn and the larger Llyn Llydaw. To the right of the lakes in the distance are the peaks of Y Lliwedd and Lliwedd Bach. You can also see part of the Miner’s Track which at this point runs parallel to Pyg Track and alongside the lakes. All the while, Snowdon itself looms darkly overhead on the right, with its peak just reaching into the cloud cover.
I like the drama of this scene, there’s so much to look at. See for example a screengrab of some of the detail within the biggest file size (40X16), showing people walking up Pyg Track. The contrasting light made it a perfect candidate for black and white, with added touches of blue in the shadows and orange in the highlights for a very slight sepia effect. Combined with the added image grain, it captures the historic nature of this timeless place in a vintage 60’s style.
This panorama will look stunning on any wall at up to a massive 40X16 inches (or beyond!); I recommend for added impact using a white mount with at least 5-10cm padding to the inner edge of the frame, then a black or white frame.
Just want a quality and hand-made framed print of this scene, or maybe an impactful print on acrylic / canvas? Get it here, delivered to your door and ready to hang on your wall: Glaslyn to Llyn Llydaw prints.
Tech Specs: Multiple photos on Canon 6D @ 28mm, ISO 800, f/13, 1/100 sec. Stitched together and enhanced in Lightroom. JPEG download only.
