Setting up your Custom Domain
Last updated: August 9, 2021
You can now use your own custom domain for your Payhip store. This helps you keep your branding consistent so that customers recognise that they’re purchasing from you.
You don’t have to use custom domains to sell with Payhip, but we think it looks more professional and keeps things consistent for your customers.
Custom domains are available for all user accounts for free. There’s no extra charge to connect a custom domain to your Payhip store.
We’re able to support connecting both root domains and subdomains. For example, you might want to connect “johndoe.com” or “shop.johndoe.com” to use as your Payhip store.
To get started with connecting your custom domain to Payhip:
- Login to your account
- Click on the “Store” link on the header
- Then click on the “Domains” tab
- Follow these instructions for the most popular DNS providers like GoDaddy, Bluehost and the likes.
Or click this direct link to add a domain (you must be logged in for this direct link to work).
And if you get into any trouble at all or just want to make sure it’s all set up correctly, we’re here to help.
Happy selling!! 🎉

I’m really enthusiastic, I want to sell my fictions, articles and poems on payhip.
Hi Said, we look forward to seeing your work on Payhip. 🙂
Hi Abs,
as I can’t wait to integrate my own Favicon into my payhip-website, when will this feature approximately launch? 😀
Keep the great work up!!
Hi Patrick, thank you for the kind words. No ETA yet for the Favicon, but it is high on the list! 🙂
Hi, do I need to have domain? Was hoping that could just sell only from payhip just like etsy works
Hi Alicja, there is no requirement to have a domain to use Payhip. You can have your store under our domain. Once you are ready, you can then add your own domain.
It’s a great idea that we offer domains and it might be something we offer in the future, but at the moment we are focusing on improving the platform itself.
Hi Abs,
When the custom domain is used for the store, what does it look like? Is there an option of including blog posts or is it the Payhip store “container” with a custom domain?
Hi Liz,
When you launch your site with Payhip, it will be payhip.com/storename at first but if you eventually connect a custom domain, you can have your Payhip store shown under storename.com. To learn more, this article can help: Custom Domain.
And yes, sellers can customize product URLs from payhip.com/b/ABCD to payhip.com/b/my-product-page only if you have a custom domain enabled. 🙂
If I have a product on payhip.com/b/ABCD and I use a custom domain, changing the URL to customdomain.com/b/english-course, will the link payhip.com/b/ABCD still work?
Hi, Anna. Yes, payhip.com/b/ABCD will still work. It will automatically redirect to customdomain.com/b/english-course.
is there any way to change a product url?
Hi Angelize,
At this time, sellers can customize the product URL from payhip.com/b/ABCD to payhip.com/b/my-product-page if they have a custom domain connected. They will see a new option on the edit product page.

Hi question. So after buying a domain from godaddy and apply to payhip my domain would be like http://www.chanelconrad.com? Not like payhip.com/Chanel Conrad anymore?
Hi Chanel,
Yes, that’s correct. As we also generate the SSL certificate for you, it will be with HTTPS which is more secure. You can learn more about it here: Custom Domains
Hi,
If I enable a custom domain, will the old payhip.com addresses continue to work?
Thanks,
Nick
Hi Nick, the old Payhip address will redirect to your new domain. All pages will go to the new pages on your newly connected domain.
I absolutely love you guys and the work you did to help us become successful!!!!
Thank you, Luis! 🙂
Hi, there. Does Payhip have an email service that connects to the custom domain like myname@mydomain.com?
Hi Niki, you can only connect custom domains to Payhip at this time. You can get email hosting from a domain provider (if they offer it) so you can manage custom domain-based email accounts. 🙂
Do I have to pay for my own SSL certificate to accompany my own domain name on Payhip or will it be secure with Payhip alone?
Hi Cat, Payhip automatically generates the SSL certificate for you when you connect your domain making it more secure. 🙂
I have a wordpress website using my domain. Can I connect Payhip to that site, or should I create a subdomain and connect that to Payhip? I’m a little confused on this part.
Thanks
You can integrate Payhip with your WordPress website, but you also have the option to create a subdomain then connect that to Payhip. Really depends on which one works for you.
Hey
I’m creating a Payhip site and when the site is ready I’ll buy a custom domain for it.
I wonder if I should buy an external web host or if Payhip takes care of the hosting?
Thank you 🙂
Hi Krista, you only need to buy a custom domain and connect it to Payhip. 🙂
Hi Abs,
I’ve loaded my fiction books on Payhip and love the simplicity of the store and setup. My only issue is with the ‘Preview’ tab. Is it possible to make this more prominent on the page, and/or change the text, from Preview to Read Sample ?
We’re happy to hear that, Jawad!
About the “Preview” tab, there might be a way to make it more prominent e.g. making the font size bigger but there isn’t a way yet to change the text. Please send us an email at contact@payhip.com for more details on this. 🙂
Hi Abs,
To customize my domain, do I need to buy hosting, and what will happen when my domain expires?
Hi Addy! Just jumping in for Abs here 🙂 You don’t need to buy hosting, but you will need to register your chosen domain name with a domain host like GoDaddy or others. I hope that helps! Feel free to reach out to us at contact@payhip.com if you have any other questions about this at all!
so ready to move my custom domain from wix to payhip. Where do I set up redirects of the URLs, can I do this in Payhip?
Thanks for your assiatance
Hi Mette! We don’t have a redirect feature built into Payhip but we’re sometimes able to help with this. If you can send a link to your Wix site over to contact@payhip.com, we’ll let you know if it’s possible.
If I have products listed already, will the links to them remain the same after I connect a custom domain?
Hi Jenny, if you connect a custom domain you product URL’s will change to include you custom domain. However, if you have already shared links to your products that don’t include your custom domain, they will still take your customer to your product page.
Hi there. Is there any way of not having the /b/ in your URL for a course product? I would like to use http://www.mydomain.com/coursename but it seems my only option is http://www.mydomain.com/b/coursename. Is there a work around please?
Thanks!
Hi Dan! We don’t have a way to remove the /b/ from the URL at this point in time – sorry about that. This is something that has come up from other customers before, so I’ve flagged you as another vote for that. I can’t say if/when we might implement this, but please know that it’s on our radar.
I tried so many times to connect a custom domain. i bought my domain from WordPress where my website is. i tried to connect a subdomain. I followed the instructions and it connected, then a note appears that “Setting up SSL certificate”. it remain for may be several hours then the connection with the subdomain broke spontaneously. I contacted customers service and got no answer.
what should I do?
Hi there. I’m very sorry but I can not see any emails to our customer support team from the email address you have provided. Please email contact@payhip.com and include the domain you are trying to connect. Our customer support team will be happy to assist you.
I have been having the same issue with the SSL certificate. My custom domain was working previously and then I checked my site yesterday (29th May 2024) and I got the connection is not private message. I disconnected and reconnected my custom domain and am getting the same issue with the “setting up SSL” message showing for hours then disconnecting the custom domain.
Hi Leanne, it looks like one of my colleagues was able to help you resolve this as I can now access your Payhip store via your custom domain without issues. 🙂
