Summer, my favourite season and wow how gorgeous has this one in the UK been so far.
But I know it can feel like both a joy and a juggle, especially if you’re feeling a tad burnt out!
With children off school, travel plans, barbecues, weddings, and wine with friends , your regular routine can disappear overnight. If you're a woman in midlife trying to manage weight, energy or menopause symptoms, it’s easy to feel like you’re “falling off track.”
But here’s the truth: you don’t have to put your health goals on hold. And you definitely don’t need to start yet another diet in September.
You can feel good and enjoy the holiday ,with a few simple mindset and lifestyle shifts.
Here’s your Summer Survival Guide to help you thrive through the holidays:
1. Focus on Protein First
Protein helps you stay full longer, stabilise blood sugar, and reduce those mid-afternoon cravings. During busy summer days, it’s easy to grab a quick slice of toast and jam, but starting meals with protein can make all the difference.
Try
- Eggs, Greek yoghurt, cottage cheese or protein smoothies for breakfast
- Add beans, lentils, chicken, tuna or tofu to summer salads
- Keep boiled eggs, edamame, or nuts handy when you’re on the go
2. Movement Looks Different in Summer
You might not have time for full workouts, but that doesn’t mean you can’t move your body.
Move when and how you can:
- Walks in the evening with family or friends
- Swimming or playing in the pool
- 10-minute stretch sessions while the kids watch a film
- Dancing at the kids disco!
All movement counts and it keeps your energy, mood and metabolism ticking over.
3. Reframe Your Mindset
Now this is key:
You’re not “off track”. Forget perfection and go with balance
Remind yourself:
- One indulgent meal doesn’t undo my progress
- I can enjoy summer and still look after myself
- Small daily wins are enough
Final Thought
Menopause can already feel like your body’s changing without your permission. The last thing you need is pressure to be perfect over the holidays.
This summer, choose balance not guilt . Nourishment over restriction. And memories over judgment.
You’re still thriving, even if it looks different right now.
You've got this.
