Fourthwall was founded in Los Angeles in 2019 by founders Will Baumann, Walker Williams, and Eli Valentin to help creators create their own shops, membership sites, and communities. This venture-backed company has over 200,000 creators on its platform, each owning 31,000 websites.

What is Fourthwall?

Fourthwall is an ecommerce platform that lets you create products and shops for your existing community. This print-on-demand platform allows you to add your designs to t-shirts, drinkware, hoodies, hats, joggers, plushies, pins, and more. They have manufacturing facilities in Mexico, the United States, Europe, China, Japan, and Australia to allow you to reach a global audience and achieve local delivery.

How does Fourthwall work?

Fourth Wall lets you create a fully customizable shop to sell print-on-demand products. You’ll need to design the products yourself using their templates to ensure they fit on their products. You’ll be able to choose from a wide selection of product types, including journals, lapel pins, posters, jackets, dresses, candles, backpacks, and more.

After you’ve designed your product, you connect it to Fourthwall. They will be responsible for manufacturing and shipping your designed products to your customers’ destinations. You’re responsible for customer support and marketing.

What you need to know about selling on Fourthwall

Before you start selling with Fourthwall, there are a few things to know. For instance, as the designer of the product, you don’t manage the product quality of what your customers receive. You’ll need to order samples of every product to ensure its quality meets your standards. Some items might not print as richly as others. For instance, a journal might print better than a pair of leggings.

There’s also no built-in traffic for Fourthwall, as there’s no marketplace where you can sell your products. You’ll need to market your products independently in your own online shop to get more sales.

The platform also frequently crashes when sellers use it to design and upload their work. It also doesn’t offer the full customization that other platforms might offer.

Fourthwall has a free plan. However, it limits what you can do on the platform. For instance, you can have only 50 product listings on the free plan and a maximum of 2 team members. If your account was created before August 25, 2025, you’d have more options, such as 100 product listings and five team members. However, you can clearly see that the limits have been reduced and will likely decrease again in the future.

The paid plan comes with a free .store domain. However, .store domains aren’t as valuable as .com domains. While it’s harder to find available .com domains, overall, it’s easier to build a recognizable brand on a .com domain as it’s the most popular domain extension. The paid plan costs $19 each month or $180 annually.

Is Fourthwall the best platform to sell products?

Fourthwall isn’t the best platform to sell products; Payhip is. Payhip offers a forever-free plan with unlimited products. You can sell online courses, digital downloads, coaching services, software, memberships, and physical products on the platform. The best part is that each product you can sell has its own unique functionality, so you can add quizzes and give certificates on your online courses or add PDF stamping to your ebooks. Plus, it includes a marketplace where you can sell your products to an existing audience. To start selling digital or physical products, sign up for free today
