Snipfeed was founded at UC Berkeley in 2018 by Redouane Ramdani, Anas Bouassami, and Pierre-Habte Nouvellon. The VC-backed company was acquired by Planoly in April 2024.

What is Snipfeed?

Snipfeed is an app that lets you monetize your social media content. You can create a page to sell digital products, online courses, memberships, livestreams, 1:1 sessions, or accept tips. You only get one bio page to list all your products, since this is more of a link-in-bio tool.

How does Snipfeed work?

Snipfeed lets you create a page to list the digital products or services you offer. The code-free platform features a simple drag-and-drop editor that lets you customize your page. You’ll be able to change the background image, add social media icons and podcast channels, add videos, and more for your bio link.

You’ll then add the link to your social media bio, such as Instagram or TikTok. Your followers will then be able to check out your portfolio, buy merch, courses, or other exclusive content, access your other social media accounts, and more in one place.

What you need to know about selling on Snipfeed

One thing to know about selling on Snipfeed is that it doesn’t offer any free plans. Plans start at $9 monthly, with unlimited links, full customization, and simple analytics. The downside to this plan is that you’ll be charged a 10% selling fee per sale, which can eat into your revenue.

You’ll also need to upgrade your plan to get more features. Each plan gate set features, such as professional templates, email volume, AI tools, and SMS. To get the maximum benefit from this tool, you’ll need to pay $59 per month, plus transaction fees.

Since the tool is only a link-in-bio, it doesn’t offer the same expansive features as an online store builder. The tool doesn’t have an add-on for building your website either. Most people only use these links for social media. However, an online store for your products would allow you to rank well in search results and with LLMs. Thus, giving you a larger audience to tap into.

The SMS feature has regional constraints, only serving the US and Canada. Plus, it caps out at 2.5k SMS per month, making it a less profitable way to generate revenue.

The platform also isn’t ideal for non-influencers. It tends to work best with those with large followings. If you’re a new creator, you might prefer a more comprehensive online store that lets you add more content and products.

Is Snipfeed the best platform to sell products?

No, Snipfeed isn’t the best platform to sell products; Payhip is. Payhip lets you sell products on your own website for free, with a 5% transaction fee. You can still add your website link to your social media bio so your followers can find you, even if you have a large audience. Plus, you’ll be able to customize your website in greater detail with this platform. You’ll also be able to access tools like an affiliate marketing system, cross-selling and upselling, referrals, and more. Plus, you can find specialized features tailored to the product you sell.
